Universal Defence and Security Solutions is proud to announce that it is now an approved supplier to HM Government.

Appointed to support the government’s Analysis for Science and Technology Research in Defence (ASTRID) framework delivered by BAE Systems, UDSS will supply military and civil expertise to support the UK government to quickly and efficiently place contracts for scientific and technical research and development. UDSS’ remit will be to provide analysis that supports the defence, security, safety and resilience of the UK, including its citizens, society and critical infrastructure.

Co-founder and Co-Chairman of Universal Defence and Security Solutions, Peter Hewitt JP FCSI FRSA says;

“I am hugely proud that we have now achieved this major milestone in our growth. It is not easy for SMEs to get on Government frameworks and in our case, this is due to the quite extraordinary efforts of the team within UDSS. So, this represents a major step forward in achieving one of our principal goals of providing capacity for the UK MoD and driving exports”.

UDSS remains committed to creating additional social value beyond the approved supplier requirements and will continue to work with the UK’s veterans through its sister company Universal Recruitment Solutions to support ex-forces personnel on their resettlement journey into the civilian job sector.

The current ASTRID framework is available until March 2027, with a maximum ceiling of £350 million.

ASTRID uses a range of sourcing channels from targeted selection of a supplier, to creation of multidisciplinary teams, or putting out an innovation call to explore ideas and potential solutions.

Technical experts help shape customer requirements, provide coherence and assure the technical quality of outputs.

ASTRID can be used by any UK government department including MOD frontline commands.

UDSS provides vision, strategy, operational and major project advice as well as delivery support to governments, armed forces, information technology companies, defence and national security organisations and private industry. UDSS is working with governments, armed forces, industry and other organisations from around the world, both in an independent capacity as well as being part of government and industrial teams that cover a wide range of contemporary and future scenarios.
