JDP, the UK’s leading supplier of drainage and water management solution to the civils and construction industry, has extended its range of ready to install garden lawn drainage packs. Improving garden drainage is an easy way to increase the usable space in homes and add value to residential property.
Garden improvements were identified in a study by Post Office Money[1] as one of the most cost-effective ways to increase the value of property - by as much as 77%. Modern housing is increasingly built in areas of poor land drainage[2] turning potentially attractive gardens into ugly, unusable quagmires.
A straightforward solution is to install JDP’s Garden Lawn Land Drainage pack. Designed for residential users, installation requires little more than a spade and some energy. The original pack launched in 2020, featured 25m of perforated pipe to absorb water, geotextile sock to minimize the risk of clogging, and end caps and junctions to make a pattern to suit gardens around 120m2.
This highly successful range has been expanded for 2021 to cater for gardens of varying sizes. The average garden size in the UK is 50m long[3] with an area[4] of 162m2, but the disparity across the UK is huge; from a half-tennis court in London to half an Olympic swimming pool in the Outer Hebrides[5].
New for 2021, the ‘Small’ pack features a smaller diameter perforated pipe, making installation easier in tighter spaces, while the ‘Large’ pack offers double the length of pipe with more junctions and end caps for larger and more complex patterns.
Richard Harries, JDP Head of Sales comments, “Our gardens are an essential social space and never more so than recently in lockdowns. From playground and improvised school-rooms to an escape from home working, our private green spaces have helped to support our health and happiness. But given the unpredictable nature of the UK weather and effects of climate change, we need to protect this space. If it adds to the value of our homes, even better.
