Star quality for local landlord

Coastline Housing’s newest apprentice is demonstrating this year that he can turn his hand to all manner of tasks, including starring in a local musical production.

Harry Charleston, age 19, is a Development and Sales Apprentice for the Cornish housing charity. He also has a passion for all things musical and amateur dramatic and will soon be treading the boards starring as Donkey in the musical Shrek.

In a twist of fate, Coastline alumni, Adam Nicholls, will be starring alongside him playing the title role of Shrek in the same production.

The musical is being staged by Redruth Amateur Musical and Pantomime Society at the Regal Theatre in Redruth, just down the road from Coastline’s offices, from September 6th to 11th.

Harry says: “It’s been quite some 12-months, starting a new apprenticeship and, at the same time, getting ready to perform in this fantastic comic role. Starring alongside Adam, who has a solid background in the housing industry, has been fantastic and he’s been a great source of inspiration and encouragement.

“During my day job I’ve been really pleased to get out and about since the lockdowns lifted, visiting Coastline’s new development sites locally and seeing the new affordable homes come out of the ground. It makes a nice change from Shrek’s swamp!”

Colleagues at Coastline have been enjoying Harry’s vocal talents in-house too, as he became part of the company’s workplace choir quickly after he started work.

Cheryl Houghton, Communications Advisor, adds: “Colleagues from across the company enjoy coming together once a week in their lunchbreak to rehearse with our workplace choir as part of our Wellbeing Programme. We’re very lucky to have a voice like Harry’s boosting our vocals. We have already performed at one Coastline event this summer and look forward to bringing our music to more corporate and customer events later in the year.”
