Mobilityways, the only technology company dedicated to decarbonising the commute, has announced that its Platform has been listed on Spark (RM6094), a dynamic purchasing system (DPS) provided by Crown Commercial Service (CCS).
Part of car-sharing pioneers, the Liftshare Group, Mobilityways supports large employers in meeting their net zero goals. The Mobilityways Platform is a suite of software tools enables employers to evidence, track, plan and change their employees’ commuter emissions. It provides full visibility of commuting challenges and identifies sustainable travel alternatives for employees.
The Mobilityways Platform is uniquely powered by ACEL© (Average Commuter Emissions Level), the only standardised methodology for benchmarking and comparing commuter emissions. Launched in May 2021, the Platform has been well received amongst the public sector, adopted by trailblazing NHS Trusts and environmentally-led Local Authorities.
Categorised as Scope 3 emissions, commuting emissions account for 5% of the UK’s total - 18 billion kg of CO2e annually. Often overlooked, commuting emissions are increasingly under the spotlight on an organisation’s journey to net zero, which cannot be met unless commuting emissions are addressed, particularly now with many employers planning their return to the office.
The Liftshare Group were featured in the Department for Transport’s recently launched Decarbonisation Plan as a recognised solution for addressing Scope 3 Commuter emissions. Public sector organisations that are serious about reducing their Scope 3 commuter emissions can now access Mobilityways via the Spark DPS.
Ali Clabburn, Mobilityways CEO, commented, “As an SME, joining the Spark DPS Technology Innovation Marketplace is groundbreaking for us: giving us a means to showcase the Mobilityways Platform to more public sector organisations and support them with their carbon net zero challenge. Until we decarbonise the commute, we will not achieve net zero and will continue to suffer the devastating impacts of climate change.”
In 2019, CCS launched Spark: The Technology Innovation Marketplace with the goal of improving the ease and speed in which public sector purchasers can access the latest proven technologies, not typically available in traditional commercial marketplaces.
The emerging technologies covered by Spark are predicted to have the biggest impact over the next 2-5 years and include AI and automation, data and wearables. As a DPS, Spark enables new suppliers to join and add new service offerings to the marketplace which are proven in solving public sector problems. This helps CCS support the public sector in achieving maximum commercial value. In 2018/19, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits worth £945m – supporting world-class public services that offer the best value for taxpayers.
Mobilityways is part of Liftshare Group, a certified social enterprise that is on a mission to make Zero Carbon Commuting a reality. With over two decades of experience, the Liftshare For Work and Mobilityways software platforms have taken over a billion miles of journeys off UK road.
Liftshare For Work is the UK’s first and largest car sharing platform, relied upon by over 700 of the UK’s largest employers to slash their commuter emissions and onsite parking costs, by facilitating their teams to share rides to work through their own branded Liftshare Community.
Powered by ACEL© (Average Commuter Emissions Level), the Mobilityways Platform is a suite of software tools that enables large employers to evidence, track, plan and reduce their commuter emissions.
Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is an Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office, supporting the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services.
