1 July 2021, Knowsley – Knowsley Social Inclusion Service is now being operated by Mental Health Matters (MHM).
The free service offers one-to-one support that puts the client at the centre of the help that they receive. The service offers a range of support focused on helping clients to engage with the community, increase their confidence and access volunteer, education, and job opportunities.
The service is available to residents aged over 18 who are registered with a Knowsley GP and are in contact with mental health services.
Crucially, people who have been accessing support from the previous provider can expect a consistent high level of care and have received a letter that outlines the transition process. The MHM service retains some of the existing service provision, but also offers a range of new support options to help people to achieve their goals.
Jane Hughes, CEO of MHM, said: “We are excited to bring our wealth of experience in delivering community-based services to the residents of Knowsley. Our priorities are to deliver a high-quality service to those already accessing support and to work closely with local services and community organisations to ensure we reach as many people in need as possible”.
This project is being funded by Knowsley Borough Council.
Cllr Christine Bannon, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Health, said: “The provision of high quality mental health support services has never been more important and I’m delighted that people in Knowsley in need of support will benefit from this new personalised service which will also offer a range of new support options to help them live life to the full.”
Individuals looking for support from the service can self-refer via email or be referred by a healthcare professional.
Mental Health Matters (MHM) is a third sector organisation providing a wide range of support to people with mental health needs offering a welcoming, safe, comfortable, non-judgmental, and non-clinical environment. For more information, visit www.mhm.org.uk.
