“The youths dare to dream and even pursue a lifelong football career. We hope we can help them to build a future and cement a legacy!”
(United Kingdom, 7th October) The annual Mehiel - Celedi Football Tournament 2021 final took place at God Care High School Playground on Sunday night (3rd October) . The 3-day Tournament was attended by 700 young people aged from 9 to 17 forming 46 teams. The Foundation proudly invited Mr. Ande Mwesigwa, the Former Uganda Cranes Captain as the Honorable Guest to present the trophies to the winners. High potentials were invited to receive professional soccer training in the Andy Mwesigwa Soccer Academy. Organised by Mehiel Foundation in the United Kingdom and sponsored by the Wills & Trusts Wealth Management Group and Wills & Trusts Charitable Foundation, the youth confidence building programme has been running for 2 years and focuses on creating a sense of community and collaboration within the community through sports. To make the football tournament in Uganda a success, there were 32 volunteers on the ground, who ensured everything went smoothly.
“Build a future, cement a legacy!” ----- the motto of the annual Mehiel – Celedi Football Tournament 2021.
Mehiel Foundation believes the future is now and strives to create opportunities for the youth in Uganda in body and mind, to deal with their daily struggles. They are not alone on their growth journey but can find companions and receive support and guidance from the social initiatives such as the annual Mehiel – Celedi Football Tournament. In the safe space of the Ugandan community, the young players can immerse themselves in the joyful and exciting atmosphere at the matches, practice their football skills, and develop bonds and friendships with their mates. What’s more, their self-esteem and confidence is boosted.
“The youths dare to dream and even pursue a lifelong football career. We hope we can help them to build a future and cement a legacy!” said Mr Lawrence Patrick, Founder of Mehiel Foundation.
