Charity to Run Remembrance Steam Special at the Great Central Railway

Join Education for Everyone (Registered Charity 1172424) on Remembrance Sunday (13th November) to remember those who serve and have served our country as well as raising money for the Charity’s Rangers Riding Ranch Project which will use equine assisted therapy with veterans and active service personnel with visible and invisible injuries.

The day will begin with a special breakfast train which will be hauled by a steam engine from Loughborough Central to Quorn and Woodhouse then by a heritage diesel on the return to Loughborough Central. Tea/Coffee and Danish Pastries will be served on board. This will be a very special trip as we are hoping the train will run side by side with another steam hauled train a rare site in the UK.

There will then be an opportunity to join with the Great Central Railway for their Service of Remembrance held on the platform including the two minutes silence at 11am. Following this there will be time to get refreshments and explore Loughborough Central Station.

At 12.30 passengers will board “The Educator” where a three-course lunch will be served while you travel through the Leicestershire countryside behind a restored steam locomotive and a heritage diesel locomotive. The scheduled steam locomotive is BR Standard Class 9F 92214 “Leicester City” and the scheduled diesel locomotive is Class 45 D123 “Leicester and Derbyshire Yeomanry” (locomotives are subject to change due to operational reasons).

More information (including the lunch menu) may be found by visiting www.e4echarity.org/events. Tickets priced at £55 for just the lunch train and £60 for both the breakfast and lunch trains may be purchased from
