AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine - high street pharmacies are ideally based placed to deliver the AZ/Oxford vaccine

Following yesterday’s test results by the Oxford study that transmission is reduced by 67% with the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, the Association Of Independent Multiples (AIMp) the organisation representing high street pharmacies, is calling to accelerate the deployment of The AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine across high street pharmacies to accelerate the vaccination programme.

“The statistics are now so compelling that it defies logic or public interest to ignore a scaled role out through high street pharmacies. With efficacy levels from first dose approaching 80% from day 22 backed by an 82% efficacy at 12 weeks the case for rapid deployment of the first vaccination is now more paramount than ever. We believe that the Government must align vaccination centres to focus upon the cohorts and booster doses, utilising high street pharmacies to offer the first dose of AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine. By using high street pharmacies in this way, we can support this effort to drastically reduce transmission and even the likelihood of infection.”
