Lenovo Motorola Skill Academy Honored as Top CSR Program in India

Lenovo philanthropy has recently been awarded with two separate honors for its corporate social responsibility programs in India, most notably the Lenovo Motorola Skill Academy. On November 30, the program received a Karma Award at the culmination of the virtual Karma Summit India, led by India’s leading CSR platform, Goodera. On December 2, the same program received a ‘Gold Award’ for the corporate sector from India’s CSR Times.

Both awards recognize Lenovo Motorola Skill Academy’s large-scale contribution to creating opportunities for India’s next generation workforce. With seven locations across India, the three-year-old training program helped 2,600 young adults develop skills in tech repair (mobile and PC), customer service, and retail store services in FY 2019-20 and over 4760 youth over the last three years. Students also had the option to take additional modules focusing on basic computer skills, English language, and financial inclusion. This program contributed to the Indian government’s plan to train 10 million youth with the skills need for employment.

“I am very pleased to see our philanthropy efforts recognized by both the Karma Award and CSR Times. There is much more impact to be made, but these are good validations that we’re on the right track in India,” said Rahul Agarwal, CEO and Managing Director of Lenovo India Private Limited.
