RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., April 21, 2021 – This year, Lenovo is celebrating Earth Day by reflecting on its continued progress toward delivering on its environmental sustainability commitments and the goals it has set for the future.

After meeting and exceeding its 2010-2020 greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, Lenovo joined the Science Based Targets initiative and set ambitious goals for the next ten years to decrease greenhouse gas emissions throughout its operations and value chain. The company’s aggressive new targets outline plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 by cutting scope 1 and 2 emissions in half. By having science-based targets, Lenovo’s efforts will measurably contribute to the United Nation’s goal to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

“We have a responsibility to our stakeholders to make progress on our climate change commitments, have a positive social impact in the communities where we do business, and be a model corporate citizen in our ethical behaviors,” said Rob Taylor, Lenovo’s Director of Environmental Affairs and Compliance. “Lenovo remains focused on building a brighter future through the products, solutions and services it offers and its commitment to deliver strong Environmental, Social and Governance, (ESG) practices.”

As a company with 63,000 employees around the globe, Lenovo’s ESG programs have had a far-reaching impact through several areas of its business including:

“This year, Earth Day is more important than ever because the pandemic revealed how truly interconnected we all are and has highlighted the effect we have on the planet,” said Mary Jacques, Lenovo’s Director of Global Environmental Affairs and Senior Engineer Staff Member. “At Lenovo, we will continue looking for opportunities to use smarter technology to drive meaningful environmental improvements, inside and outside our business, and advance positive global impact.”
