Presentation of the CPVO at the European Parliament's AGRI Committee

On Tuesday 30 November 2021, Members of the European Parliament from the Agriculture and Rural Development committee (AGRI) held an exchange of views with Mr Francesco Mattina, Acting President of the Community Plant Variety Office, and with representatives of the European Commission.

Mr Francesco Mattina presented the role and activities of the Community Plant Variety Office.

The CPVO presentation was followed by a presentation of the scientific opinion on "Towards a scientifically justified, differentiated regulation of genome edited plants in the EU" by:

• Prof. Dr. Ralph Bock, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, Potsdam-Golm, DFG Senate Commission on Genetic Research

• Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Dederer, Faculty of Law, University of Passau, DFG Senate Commission on Genetic Research

• Prof. Dr. Bärbel Friedrich, Former Vice President of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina
