Democratic Republic of the Congo: Council extends sanctions for one year

The Council decided to maintain individual restrictive measures against several personalities of the Democratic Republic of Congo until 12 December 2021, on the basis of an evaluation of the situation in the country.

These persons were listed by the Council in 2016 in response, in particular, to human rights violations. Measures on them comprise of an asset freeze and a ban on entering the European Union. The sanctions list currently includes 11 individuals.

The Council will further review the restrictive measures in light of the evolution of the situation and stands ready to adjust them accordingly.
