The wealth management company, Mattioli Woods, has closed their 2.5-year partnership with the UK’s leading dementia research charity on a high after raising £144,747.

The company, based in Leicester with 12 offices across the country, had originally signed up to support the charity over two years. However, with COVID-19 causing disruption to planned fundraising events over the last 18 months, Mattioli Woods generously extended the partnership until the end of 2021 to support the charity through its most challenging year in history.

Staff from all offices took part in virtual and in-person fundraising activities throughout the partnership. Notable events include running the Virgin Money London Marathon, Kilt Walks, and match-funding the first £50,000 of donations to Jay’s Virtual Pub Quiz, hosted by Stephen Fry in May 2020.

Commenting on the partnership’s success, Hilary Evans, Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Mattioli Woods for their unwavering support for almost three years. Here at Alzheimer’s Research UK, our scientists simply could not carry out the same level of pioneering research to find a cure for dementia without the support from our Corporate Partners. We’ve enjoyed seeing staff from Mattioli Woods get involved with fundraising and awareness raising activities, especially during the midst of our most challenging time in history. Thanks to Mattioli Woods, we were able to protect scientific progress with enough to fund up to three Pilot Project’s, the testing grounds for the latest ideas in dementia research that lead to the breakthroughs of tomorrow.”

“When we chose to work with Alzheimer’s Research UK as our charity partnership, none of us envisaged the challenging time that would be thrust upon us thanks to Covid-19. However, we were happy to step up and raise not only funds but also awareness of this debilitating illness and help work towards a breakthrough in dementia research. “Working alongside the staff at Alzheimer’s Research UK has genuinely been a fulfilling and enriching experience and one that we will continue to look back on with pride.”
